Let's carry on with our cozy conversations in May

How can a family with children furnish their home to keep it tidy? How to teach a child to play independently and what does the joy of movement bring? As of 8 May, every Wednesday from 10:30-11:30, we meet in the cosy Swedish restaurant and in the Children's section to talk to experts about baby development, safety and family relationships. Special event for IKEA Family Club members.

Family and baby's sleep

When a baby comes into the family, for a while everyone has to say goodbye to their usual sleeping routine. In this session, we will talk about developing your baby's sleep habits, sleeping needs and characteristics, sleeping difficulties and how parents can take care of the quality of their own sleep. We will be joined by PEP moms Laura Eglite-Jefanova and Lasma Rugate van der Pol. And Asole Danosa, Head of IKEA Children's Section, will tell us how to create a safe sleeping environment for your baby.

Tidiness and playtime

Toys and tidiness don’t go together? Actually they do. With the right storage solutions, clutter will be a thing of the past. Play is essential from birth. How to encourage the desire to play independently? Which toys are most age-appropriate? We will find the answers together with Sabine Berzina, PhD in psychology and cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist. And Asole Danosa, Head of Children's Products at IKEA, and designer Elīna Pasteneka will talk about keeping things tidy. The meeting will take place in the Children's Department.

Introducing solid foods

A balanced diet plays an important role in baby's development. What should be considered when introducing solid foods and building a varied diet? What are the most common mistakes when creating a menu for your child? When is the baby ready to eat family meals and what if breast milk is the baby's main diet for a prolonged time? Let's find out with BKUS nutritionist Olga Lyubina.

Enhancing language skills

What should a baby be able to say at each age? How can parents encourage their child's speech development from infancy? What is the role of fine motor skill training and what is the role of the bigger movements such as crawling, climbing, running, swimming and others? Let's find out with certified audiologist Evija Caune.
